Job Search - Hiring environment improves for IT professionals

Hiring Environment Improving | IT Jobs | Job Search News
Lou Sostilio is the Market Manager for Surrex Solutions Corporation an Information Technology Consulting and Staff Augmentation Company. Lou was recently interviewed by the Boston Globe.
The job marketplace for information technology professionals is stronger today than it has been since the dot.com bubble burst in the late 1990s.
"We're seeing a 30 to 40 percent increase over last year in jobs offered to IT [information technology] professionals by Boston area companies," says Lou Sostillio, marketing manager of technology staffing at Surrex Solutions, a Newton-based agency specializing in the placement of information technology professionals. Not surprisingly, hiring procedures are also accelerating. "Not long ago, it would take one to two months from the first interview to the first day on the job for IT professionals," Sostillo says. "Now, the process takes two to four weeks."
For Surrex Solutions, most of these hires are being made by small to mid-size client companies employing from 30 to 300 people. However, other IT search firms are seeing larger corporations reach out for qualified candidates. Learn More about IT Jobs.

In a "Pew survey,

changed jobs in the past two years found the Internet a vital
resource in helping them through that transition. One quarter
of Internet users who changed jobs in the previous two years said
that the Internet played a crucial role in their job search."
